To humanize those suffering from or affected by the Opioid Crisis through their own words. To allow those untouched by opioids to see the human side of the crisis. To change people’s misconceptions about what opioid addiction is and about those who suffer from it.
People of Substance exists to catalog and share the stories of those suffering from opioid addiction. It seeks to break the stereotypes associated with the Opioid Crisis in the United States. We want the words and stories from those suffering from addiction to change the preconceived notions about their situations, to humanize them as people rather than stigmatize them as addicts.
